The tactical role-playing series known for its beautiful water-color graphic style and alternative timeline story gets a new addition titled Valkyria Chronicles 4. Although the storyline for this sequel occurs during the same period as the original Valkyria Chronicles, we now focus on a new cast of main characters who fight during operation “Northern Cross” against the Eastern European imperial alliance and their battalion of machines. This ‘Squad E’ includes a young commander by the name of Claude Wallace, a heavy weapons expert and engineer named Riley Miller, hot-headed Darcsen Raz, ice-cold master sniper Kai Schulen and more.
Fans of the series will be excited to hear that the BLiTZ combat system will be returning with improved gameplay and more add-ons such as a last-stand ability to win a lost battle at the last moment, offensive and defensive support from battleships, and an all-new Grenadier class soldier. The audio for the game will also be done by returning composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, a longtime staple behind emotional soundtracks throughout games and the Valkyria Chronicles series. Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2018.
