Developers The Vanir Project bring out a new title that contains “Metroidvania” game mechanics called Nightmare Boy. The player takes control of Billy, mysteriously turned into the warrior Rolok, in a dream world containing nightmares from Billy’s and ten other kids’ consciousnesses. The game has interesting gameplay mechanics including a saving system in which you need to spend more and more on save points as you continue to checkpoint yourself. Not only that but you’ll be able to upgrade your character after defeating each final boss with double and triple jumps, different magical attacks, and more all while navigating a dark world with creepy creatures and artwork to save the other ten kids and transform Billy back to his regular appearance.

This story takes place in Donorok, in the state of Noctum. After the King of Noctum, Aster, disappears, chaos rules over the world. The relationships between Monsters, Mongos and Dreamers are completely unstable, and Donorok – the land so heavily effected by the chaos – slowly absorbs terrain from the surrounding regions.
Balder has taken over and has ordered the monsters to retain any child who falls into the Nightmare. The key to continuing his rule is with the Nightmare Boy, Billy..

Nightmare Boy will be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam on October 25th, 2017.
